On Friday 14 August 2015, The Iliad will be read. In partnership with The British Museum, The Almeida Theatre presents a rare reading of Homer's epic from start to finish with more than 50 artists. If you cannot be there in person, you can still enjoy the complete experience from morning 'til night, via our live-stream and behind-the-scenes video capture of this extraordinary event.
Experience a rare live complete reading of Homer’s Iliad as more than 50 actors revisit the ancient Greek epic from morning until night. The first part of the reading will begin at 09.00 (BST) in the Museum’s Great Court and will continue throughout the day. Come for a few minutes, a few chapters or the entire tale. The part at the British Museum is free and you do not have to book in advance. Please note that seats will be unreserved and available on a first-come, first-served basis. If you require a seat, it is recommended that you arrive for 09.00.
I commend the event to everyone reading The Third! The second part of the reading will take place at The Almeida Theatre in Islington from 20.00, although it is not free. Tickets for the evening session are £38 (concessions £35). Book in advance via the Almeida Theatre on 020 7359 4404 or almeida.co.uk/iliad
