The sixth broadcast from the revived Third Programme comprises one work, Waldemar von Baußnern's Serenade in four movements for violin, clarinet and pianoforte. This item includes the full score, displayed in time with the music. Duration: twenty minutes. The recording is of a German performance kindly contributed to the U.C. forum by member Holger, and the score comes from the IMSLP. The fourth movement in particular contains many inventive turns. Perceptive listeners may note two places in the fourth movement where the performers deviate from the score: here the piano plays double speed: and here the clarinet plays half speed: I presume that both these cases are simple mistakes; but otherwise the performers (unknown) sound like expert professionals. This is the first of this series of broadcasts to use a larger screen resolution of 1280 pixels by 720. It looks best in full screen format (press control-H in the VLC player).
