Jemima Montgomery was born in 1807 at Seaview, County Donegal. In 1838 she married the Baron von Tautphœus of Marquartstein, Chamberlain to the king of Bavaria. The remainder of her life was spent principally in Bavaria, where she was equally at home in court circles, among the peasantry and with the middle classes. She was mistrustful of the modernity of the nineteenth century and tended to see Bavaria as a refuge for traditional values in a fast-changing world. She put out only these four novels. Our intention is to include, where possible, djvu versions of the first editions. Wherever such is unavailable the closest available alternative is provided. A suitable djvu reader may be down-loaded here. 1) The Initials (first published 1850) BvT012) Cyrilla (1853, three volumes) BvT023) Quits (1857, three volumes) BvT034) At Odds (1863, two volumes) BcT04-oOo-
