In this posting we present sixteen of her novels. There are in all eighteen but two of them are at present introuvable. Our intention is to include, where possible, djvu versions of the first editions. Wherever such is unavailable the closest available alternative is provided. A suitable djvu reader may be down-loaded here: www.cuminas.jp/en/downloads/download/?pid=101 Mrs. Lorimer - a sketch in black and white (1882) LM0102 Colonel Enderby's Wife - a novel (1885) LM0203 Little Peter - A Christmas Morality for Children of Any Age (1888) LM0304 A Counsel of Perfection (1888) LM0405 The Wages of Sin - a novel (1891) LM0506 The Carissima - a modern grotesque (1896) LM0607 The Gateless Barrier (1900) LM0708 The History of Sir Richard Calmady - a romance (1901) LM0809 The Far Horizon (1907) LM0910 The Score (1909) LM1011 The Wreck of the Golden Galleon (1910) LM1112 Adrian Savage - a novel (1911) LM1213 Damaris (1916) LM1314 Deadham Hard - a romance (1919) LM1415 The Tall Villa (1919) LM1516 The Survivors (1923) LM1617 The Dogs of Want - a modern comedy of errors (1925) At present introuvable; but coming later. 18 The Private Life of Mr. Justice Syme (1932) At present introuvable; but coming later. Is there some kind of thread linking the particular authors of your choice to which you might care to alert members? Just curious!

Yes, there is a lot of bias in the selection: where possible I keep clear of a) cloying sentimentality, b) violence, c) historical settings, d) passages in regional or bucolic dialect, and e) excessive orthodox religion.
On the other hand (considering also the next selections - John Oliver Hobbes and Vernon Lee) it is striking how most of our authoresses have had Lesbian inclinations. This aspect was not my plan or intention, it is just how it happened.

Having at last acquired Lucas Malet's Dogs of Want, I have to-day been able to scan and post it. The final book in the collection - The Private Life of Mr. Justice Syme - will now follow after a couple of days.

I have now posted The Private Life of Mr. Justice Syme, the last of Lucas Malet's novels. In fact it was completed by her cousin and adopted daughter Gabrielle Vallings. It seems to be a continuation of The Dogs of Want, with the same set of characters.
