In the end I had to look this up, but found it amusing. Six letters:
"Little woman after gaining weight and marrying twice?"
If no one finds it I will supply three of the letters to-morrow, which is where I was when I still had to look it up.

Yes you're right Mr. H. What is the Sorabji connection? I understood him never to have married . . .

Yes you're right Mr. H. What is the Sorabji connection? I understood him never to have married . . . Your understanding is indeed correct. The connection is that of his father, who one might argue had acquired considerable expertise in the art of marriage by the time of his death at the age of around 66 in 1932, given that he married bigamously in 1929 and seems also to have married the composer's mother bigamously in 1892.

Another one I found amusing:
"A short line from Weston-super-Mare" [six letters].

Another one I found amusing: "A short line from Weston-super-Mare" [ six letters]. I must confess that I cannot think of anything amusing about Weston-super-Mare.

The answer I think is "hyphen"!
