Good morning to you all! 'The Times' leads today with some editorial comment on target practice: the Bank of England needs to promote growth as well as price stability. Denis Healey once described the job of a central banker as to exude confidence without actually lying. That is a near-impossible task when Britain faces a triple-dip recession and inflation remains stubbornly above the Government’s target. Appearing before the Treasury Select Committee yesterday, Mark Carney, who will succeed Sir Mervyn King as Governor of the Bank of England in July, wisely preferred candour.

Mark Carney made clear that there is slack in the economy and room for monetary stimulus. He will review thoroughly the policy framework. I remember when I was at (high) school, Sydney Grew, I was taken to see 'Hamlet' at the Barbican.

Over a drink with my art teacher during the interval, I looked up at the towers and remarked that it was all part of Le Corbusier's dream.
"What do you mean, kleines c?" My art teacher looked confused.
"Cities in the sky!"

One of the most interesting developments in the United Kingdom (UK) today is currently taking place at the British Museum, where a new Centre will provide world class facilities for visitors and researchers, taking conservation, scientific research and collection management to a new level of excellence.

I commend such an approach to everyone reading The Third!
