An instrument claimed (by the BBC) to be the earliest English piano - or at least, the oldest one still playable - has gone on display at Apsley House in London. The BBC visited, and David Owen-Norris played a short demonstration. www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-22507415[NB the sound on this page opens immediately and automatically ] Unfortunately the journalist didn't hold the mike close enough to the instrument during the interview with Owen-Norris, so the instrument sounds muffled and distant. However, when DO-N actually plays a full piece they reposition the mike, so it is worth hanging on for that. [David Owen-Norris taught me at Univ, so it makes me feel pleasantly young to see him still in action - a generation older than myself
