I would be tempted to agree with you, Parva Porcus, although I am by no means an expert on the subject. Given the choice of walking or swimming around London, I will unhesitatingly walk. Swimming up the River Thames can be particularly dangerous. I have just googled on the subject, and I have come to the conclusion that it is probably better to do both some walking and some swimming, and possibly even other forms of exercise. Exercise - Love to know - Walking vs. Swimming for ExerciseOf course, the sensible advice is to find forms of exercise which you really enjoy doing. I really enjoy climbing, for example, so I climb, even though it is high risk. Last year, ' The Guardian' published the top 10 health and fitness holidays 2012: getting fit and healthy doesn't have to mean sweating away in the gym. Hop off the treadmill and go walking, swimming, running, kayaking or cycling in the UK or abroad. If there was no possibility of taking a walk that day (' Jane Eyre'), swimming is an obvious alternative, particularly if there is an indoor heated swimming pool nearby. I tend to like to do something useful, Parva Porcus, so I am just as likely to do some gardening, for example. Any thoughts?

No, not really (not enough room in my head beyond the complex legal and financial thoughts that have to crowd my brain whilst at work). Except I largely enjoy your posts as an escape from other thoughts. That coastal picture is gorgeous. Where is that?

I find walking easy to organise so I do it, swimming is very good if your near a luxury pool, be it in a hotel or luxury club or something.
Though, I got a verooka from the canary wharf virgin gym, which is very very annoying, and their pool seems small to me.
All in, waking suits the poet.
