This, in the North Island, is a very impressive example of how the Earth can split asunder. Om the reverse of the card:
Mt. Tarawera erupted in June 1886 producing a mighty crater in the earth extending from Lake Rotomahana to the summit of the mountain. 3,740 million tonne [sic] of material was flung from the top in a violent display of volcanic power.
