Some one in an æroplane once told me how he had in N.Z. seen the earth moving across the fields with a kind of wave motion.

Mt. Tarawera erupted in June 1886 producing a mighty crater in the earth extending from Lake Rotomahana to the summit of the mountain. 3,740 million tonne [sic] of material was flung from the top in a violent display of volcanic power.
