The legend on the reverse reads as follows:
The bleak pass over the watershead [sic] between Eskdale and Duddondale, reaching 1,291 ft., lies between Harter Fell (2,140 ft.) and Hard Knott (1,803 ft.) with the Scafell range towering beyond. Photograph by T.E.Wright.
I once had the pleasure of driving over this in an Austin Mini, Denis Healey style. It is similar to some of the Swiss passes, but not as long.
