Vernon Lee was the nom-de-plume used by Violet Paget, who was born near Boulogne in 1856. Here we present her five novels. Our intention is to include, where possible, djvu versions of the first editions. Wherever such is unavailable the closest available alternative is provided. A suitable djvu reader may be down-loaded here:

01) Ottilie - an eighteenth-century idyl (1883), set in Germany during the Sturm und Drang time. (A poor quality scan.)

Of this writer Wiki observes
"Her open resistance against World War II and her work Satan the Waster led to her being ostracized by the younger generation of scholars and writers" (in which I cannot help but think that "resistance against" would surely better read "resistance to").

Here would appear to be yet another case of mistimings (like the suffragette one mentioned a while ago), since she died in 1935, some 4½ years before the onset of WWII.
