Method 1: Go to www.bbc.co.uk/radio4 and click on "Listen Live"

1) go to www.bbc.co.uk/radio4/programmes/schedules
2) go to the day of the programme you want
3) click on the title of the programme you want (you should see "see all episodes" in the right hand column)
4) Then click on the little arrow at the bottom left hand corner. It will turn blue, then the sound will begin, and you can listen to it.
How to record a "listen later" item: use the indispensible "get_iplayer" which, if you do not already have it, may be obtained here:

Then, supposing for example you want to record a "listen later" programme with the word "Profile" in its name, you can just type the following at a command prompt:
and a file named "Profile_-_Michel_Barnier_b083j66z_original.m4a" will be created for you in a directory called "iPlayer Recordings". The recorded sound quality will be AAC with a sample rate 48,000 Hertz. A great deal of documentation about the many available options is provided.
