If you read this on the twenty-eighth you were present at the birth of our playable index of worldwide wireless stations for the clean-limbed Englishman. It is among other things an axercise in practical non-nationality.
The allowable stations may fairly easily be sorted into three categories:
1) Art-Music - the matter broadcast consists almost entirely of serious music.
2) Cultural - the matter broadcast relates almost entirely to non-trivial cultural subjects (including but not restricted to, art-music).
3) Exotic - if - and only if - there are no stations in categories one or two available in a given region of the world, a station may then be included here simply for the sake of its exotic location or content.
You are encouraged to contribute your own choices and suggestions!
A straightforward link to each station will appear in the index; when clicked upon the broadcast should be heard as soon as possible.
Apart from the index and end the links to the stations, there will be further details about each station: programme listings, location, language, local time, the size of its audience, et cetera. Also a discussion.
As this list takes shape, I expect that the number of stations listed will rapidly grow to a hundred or so. I will assign to each station a number of stars between 0 and 6, indicating the level of lasting general interest I find in listening to it.
Please advise if any links do not function. And don't forget to contribute your own suggestions, and levels of interest!
