This discussion of Herr Schönberg and the Collapse of Criticism appeared a hundred years ago; but does it not remain as true and applicable to-day? [ I had intended to post this also in the "Hear and Now" section of the R 3 forum, but I doubt it would have been greeted there by anything more than the customary succession of wise "cracks."]

best just say 'well I like some things, not others', I was once at cadogan hall and they said a 'new piece' would be first and was shocked to find I enjoyed it as it sounded like brahms musicians are an odd bunch, a producer is there to ensure you make money and do not let the musicians run riot with pieces the audience hate £££
