Kongar-ol Ondar, the titanic performer of Tuvan khoomei (aka 'throat-singing') has died at the age of 51, after an unsuccessful operation. The New York Times offers a fitting tribute to the great man. Regular listeners to Late Junction on BBC R3 will have heard Kongar-ol on many occasions. Maybe not his most magnificent performance - but a man brought up among herders on the Tuvan steppe, who then appears on the Letterman show deserves our respect. youtu.be/TVyyhHFKI8E
